The short version
Orbit Launcher collects no personal data whatsoever. It has no network access, sends nothing to any server, and stores your preferences only in macOS UserDefaults on your own machine.
What we collect
Nothing. Orbit Launcher is a fully local, offline application. It does not connect to the internet for any reason.
What stays on your Mac
The following information is stored locally in macOS UserDefaults and never leaves your device:
- Your ring appearance settings (size, colors, opacity, theme)
- Your hotkey configuration
- Your permanent and pinned app list
- Whether you have completed the onboarding tour
- Your "Launch at Login" preference
This data is stored by the app to remember your preferences between launches. You can delete it at any time by removing the app and clearing its container.
App indexing
Orbit Launcher reads the contents of your /Applications folder and other standard macOS app directories to build its search index. This index exists only in memory and is never written to disk or transmitted anywhere.
Accessibility & input monitoring
Orbit Launcher requests Accessibility access from macOS to register a global hotkey. This permission is used solely to detect your hotkey press so the launcher can appear. No keystrokes, clipboard contents, or screen contents are ever read or recorded.
Third-party services
Orbit Launcher uses no third-party analytics, crash reporting, advertising SDKs, or telemetry of any kind.
This website
The orbitlauncher.app website is a static site served by Cloudflare Workers, which may collect standard server-side access logs (IP address, browser, page requested) as part of its infrastructure — see Cloudflare's Privacy Policy. The website also uses Google Analytics to measure aggregate traffic — which pages are viewed, approximate region, and device/browser type — to help us improve the site. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes this data on Google's servers under Google's Privacy Policy. We do not sell your data, serve ads, or use it to identify you personally. The Orbit Launcher app itself remains 100% telemetry-free, as described above.
Children's privacy
Orbit Launcher does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13.
Changes to this policy
If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted here with a new "last updated" date. Given that we collect no data, we do not anticipate meaningful changes.
